Cardiology
Cardiology is a specialty of medicine that deals with the heart. High-tech equipment and skilled personnel are used to manage the care of patients who have suffered from a heart attack, for example. Your hospital will play a vital role in caring for the heart attack victim during the first critical hours following a heart attack and then through the early stages of recovery.
Dietary
The registered dietitians and other dietary workers provide meals for the patients and employees at Atlanta Memorial Hospital. The department regularly offers several menus, including regular, low-fat, low-sodium, low-sugar and liquid diets. In addition the registered dietitians work as part of the care team by developing special diets for patients and advising on calorie requirements and specialized foods.
Emergency Medicine
The Emergency Room at most hospitals provide care 24-hours a day, seven days week with a highly-trained nursing and physician staff. The primary goal of the ER is to save lives by treating and stabilizing patients who have suffered from an accident, major trauma, sudden heart attack or stroke or sudden worsening of an illness or chronic condition.
Laboratory
The laboratory at Atlanta Memorial Hospital is responsible for performing thousands of tests each year that are vital in helping the physicians correctly diagnose and prescribe treatments for patients. The lab uses computerized technology to perform tests accurately and quickly. The highly-skilled technicians are responsible for quality control and accuracy of all tests.
Pharmacy
The registered pharmacists and pharmacy aides at Atlanta Memorial Hospital carefully follow the physician’s prescriptions to provide intravenous solutions, injections and oral medications for each patient. The pharmacists are also responsible for checking drug interactions and advising physicians on new drugs as they appear on the market.
Physical Therapy
Combining a variety of therapies and treatments, the specialty of physical therapy is designed to help patients regain their normal function following an illness, accident or trauma. Trained therapists use massage, heat, water therapy and a wide variety of specialized machines, in addition to teaching patients correct movement and exercise techniques.
Radiology
The Atlanta Memorial Department is certified by the Texas Department of Health. The Mammography Department is certified by the Texas Department of Health and holds accreditation through the American College of Radiology.
Radiology interpretation is provided by board certified radiologists.

Respiratory Therapy
The respiratory therapy department provides both diagnostic and treatment modalities to Atlanta Memorial Hospital. The diagnostic functions of the department include pulmonary function tests to determine the patient’s lung capacity. This group of professionals supervises oxygen use, provides breathing treatments and works as part of the lifesaving team in emergency situations.

Wound Healing Institute - 903-799-3053
This new service was added in February 2007. The WHI was developed to provided advanced wound care through an outpatient clinic. Our department will offer all aspects of wound care, as well as education throughout the healing process by our experienced, well-trained staff. The WHI team will also be consulted in the hospital setting to ensure a continuum of care. Open Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. No referrals needed.
